Purpose
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to decline the Russian personal pronouns across all six cases.
Lesson Explanation
Having covered all six cases for nouns across Part 2 and Part 3, this lesson consolidates how the personal pronouns from Part 1, Lesson 5 decline — genuinely irregular in places, and worth memorizing as a set rather than deriving from noun patterns.
Я (I): nominative я, accusative/genitive меня (already seen in У меня есть, Part 3, Lesson 1), dative мне (already seen in Мне нравится, Part 3, Lesson 2), instrumental мной, prepositional мне (identical to dative here).
Ты (you, informal): accusative/genitive тебя, dative тебе, instrumental тобой, prepositional тебе. Он (he): accusative/genitive его, dative ему, instrumental им, prepositional нём (note the added “н” after certain prepositions, a genuinely distinctive spelling quirk affecting third-person pronouns specifically).
Она (she): accusative/genitive её, dative ей, instrumental ей (identical to dative), prepositional ней. Мы (we): accusative/genitive нас, dative нам, instrumental нами, prepositional нас (identical to genitive/accusative).
Вы (you, formal/plural) and они (they) follow the same pattern shape as мы, with their own distinct roots: вас, вам, вами and их, им, ими respectively (plus the same “н-” addition after prepositions for они: них).
