Purpose

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to correctly use object pronouns in place of a noun receiving an action.

Lesson Explanation

Object pronouns replace a noun that receives the action of a verb, corresponding to the subject pronouns from Part 1, Lesson 5:

I → me we → us you → you they → them he → him she → her it → it

Example: I saw Tom. I gave him the book. — him replaces Tom as the object receiving the action of “gave.”

The key distinction from subject pronouns: a subject performs the action, while an object receives it. He saw her — he is the subject (performing “saw”), her is the object (receiving the action).
