This final lesson does not introduce new rules — instead, it brings together concepts from across the course into genuine editing practice, the way an editor would actually review a passage. Consider this uncorrected passage: “Me and my sister went to the store, we bought apples, oranges and bananas. Running quickly, the bus was almost missed. Their going to be late because their car broke down, and its going to rain later.” Identifying the errors draws on nearly every Part of this course: “Me and my sister” should be “My sister and I” (Part 1, Lesson 2 / Part 6, Lesson 5). The comma splice “went to the store, we bought” needs a period, semicolon, or conjunction (Part 2, Lessons 2 and 6). “apples, oranges and bananas” is missing the Oxford comma some style guides require (Part 5, Lesson 1). “Running quickly, the bus was almost missed” is a dangling modifier (Part 4, Lesson 3) — who was running? “Their going to be late” confuses “their” with “they’re” (Part 6, Lesson 1). “its going to rain” confuses “its” with “it’s” (Part 5, Lesson 3). Corrected: “My sister and I went to the store. We bought apples, oranges, and bananas. Running quickly, she almost missed the bus.
